STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES
Seeking to be an eco-responsible and sustainable live show production structure presents challenges that are difficult to resolve, which require reprogramming habits, changing working methods and models, and rethinking the management of the entire production chain of an artistic show. The repositioning of the entire cultural sector according to criteria of sustainability and ecological responsibility is an objective as important as it is gigantic, and which cannot be achieved without structural and widespread changes.
However, this difficulty does not exempt artists - as individuals and groups - from reflecting on the environmental impact of their actions, from acting within their possibilities, and from raising awareness of the problem. In this sense, Arte Minima makes the following commitments in the design, production and execution of their projects.
Transport
- Do not travel by plane within national territory and, when possible, over distances of less than 1,000 km.
- When traveling by plane, choose routes with fewer connections (less pollutants).
- Prioritize proposals and projects that allow the circulation of shows, to the detriment of isolated shows.
- Prioritize public transport for short trips; If this is not possible, give preference to the use of electric vehicles on a mutual use basis.
- In the case of projects that involve the movement of artists from abroad, seek to optimize their presence by organizing parallel activities (such as meetings, workshops, presentations), or coordinating with activities of other groups or entities that benefit from the presence of these artists .
In circulation
- Seek responsible and moderate use of electrical energy. Systematically turn off all equipment that is not in use.
- Avoid the use of plastic consumables (adhesive tapes, covers, bags, etc.).
- Avoid the use or consumption of products with ephemeral or individual plastic packaging.
- Use reusable water bottles. Eliminate plastic bottles.
- Prioritize eating local and organic products, preferably vegetarian (less polluting).
- Look for accommodation with good sustainability indicators. Ask in advance not to make hygiene products available in individual plastic packaging. Inform that towels and sheets should only be changed if requested.
- Prioritize accommodation in apartments or houses for long periods of stay, in locations accessible on foot or by public transport from the rehearsal and performance locations.
In production
- Estimate, measure and record the carbon footprint of each project. Provide this information in the communication material.
- Seek to extend the life of each project, and produce various sub-products from it, thus diluting its environmental impact among a wider audience (in-person and remote).
- Only print the minimum amount necessary, whenever possible on recycled paper.
Communication
- Place links to this document in communication material (for example, in email signatures).
- Improve the communication circuit in order to reach the target audience more effectively.
